Overview

Methven is a quaint little country town in the Canterbury region of the South Island of New Zealand. Sometimes referred to as Mt Hutt Village, Methven New Zealand is an ideal base for skiing at Mt Hutt which is only 30 minutes away. The highlights of Methven are what Methven doesn’t have – no crowds, no touristy hype, no attitude, and no pressure. Methven skiing is great for school groups after a unique adventure! Just one hours drive from Christchurch, Southern X Lodge offers 45 rooms, all with ensuites. Facilities at this lodge include a large lounge with pool table and cosy fire, separate dining room, and large function/meeting/training room for guests to enjoy.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive in Methven

Land in Christchurch and board your bus for the short (90min) drive to Southern X Lodge. Settle into your rooms, then it is time to collect your ski hire. Dinner tonight is at Southern X Lodge and then it is an early night before the first day of skiing tomorrow.

2-4

Days 2-4: Hit the Slopes

It's an early start with a delicious cooked breakfast. Then time to grab your ski gear and board the bus. Enjoy the scenery on the drive to the resort which takes approximately 30mins. You will be skiing at Mt Hutt each day with morning or afternoon lessons. Optional BBQ lunches on the mountain are available upon request. Depart the slopes at approximately 4pm to return to Southern x Lodge to relax and recover for the evening. In the evenings, dinner is served in the dinning room were teachers can then request the meeting room for further activities such as Trivia Night.

Day 5 : Sight Seeing

8:00 am to 4.00pm

Only a short 30mins bus trip away is Christchurch, where students and teachers can spend the day exploring the coastal city. There's plenty of activities to do in Christchurch such as jet boating, walking tours, botanical gardens, visit the earthquake national memorial, visit the international antarctic centre, art gallerys, lord of the rings tour or gondola ride, just to name a few!

Day 6-7: Final Days

It's another early start to be spent enjoying the final days on the slopes. A delicious, hot, cooked breakfast is served then it's time to grab your ski gear and board the bus. Spend the mornings with your instructors fine tuning your new techniques! Jump back on board the bus to Southern x Lodge and check out of your accommodation. Head back to the airport for your afternoon flight. What a great way to finish your Mt Hutt snow trip!

- What are New Zealand's Passport and Visa requirements?

All students and teachers must have a valid passport and we recommend having at least six months validity. Travelers with a Non-Australian passport must apply for a ETA Visa.

- How long is the duration of the lessons?

Yes, personal equipment can be brought on flights. Subject to size and weight, extra fees may apply.
