Wanaka is located about 90 minutes from Queenstown Airport, and is a great alternative to Queenstown. A smaller, more intimate town, it’s lakefront setting definitely rivals that of its larger neighbour. Accommodation tends to be more affordable in Wanaka. 

Cardrona is the largest ski area in the region, and growing with continual expansion over the last few summers. About 30 minutes from Wanaka, it offers long, coasting beginner slopes, NZ’s best terrain parks and plenty for more advanced riders. With stunning views of the Southern Alps, there is plenty to love at Cardrona!

Treble Cone, now also under the same ownership as Cardrona, offers more challenging terrain. A locals mountain, it is a great place to ski and snowboard for all levels.
