Rusutsu Resort has long been the ‘secret’ jewel in the crown of Hokkaido’s winter sports scene. Despite being Hokkaido’s single largest winter resort, based around 3 mountains covering over 1,700 hectares (4,200 acres) of terrain, and being voted ‘Best Small Resort’ by The Great Skiing & Snowboarding Guide, Rusutsu has retained a distinctly Japanese feel in comparison to the neighbouring areas in Niseko. Rusutsu is also an hour closer to the airport than Niseko, a most welcome difference at the end of a long journey.
The resort itself is a modern day mecca consisting of every possible facility to keep just about everyone entertained. The lift network is spread over 3 peaks offering a wide variety of terrain catering to all levels of skiers and snowboarders. Plenty of other activities other than skiing can be enjoyed such as dogsledding, snowmobiling, snowrafting and tubing.
The Rusutsu Resort Hotel is a fully serviced resort, restaurants, shopping malls, entertainment complexes, swimming and wave pool, spas, bars and a merry-go-round are all within the resort. Accommodation is available at the Resort Hotel or Rusutsu Towers which is connected to the main resort by monorail. Both properties offer excellent accommodation with spacious rooms and great views.
