Going to the Onsen is a part of the Japanese ski holiday experience, but can often be a daunting experience to those of us not used to complete nakedness in public. Once you get past the initial part, it is definitely worth it for the chance to relax and enjoy the natural hot springs and their soothing qualities.

If you are looking for a fantastic onsen experience, Nozawa Onsen Ski Resort is a great place, with over 30 public onsens or bathhouses.

Check out this handy guide to the customs for your time at the Onsen.

Nice article – very helpful for first time visitors to the Japanese ski resorts. You forgot to mention that men and women bathe in separate onsens!
